The Forty Rules of Love is a novel written by Turkish author Elif Shafak. This is my first time read a book written by Turkish writer. And it has interesting theme and unique way of writing. Its like a story in a story. This novel start with- Ella Rubenstein is forty years old and unhappily married when she takes a job as a reader for a literary agent. Her first assignment is to read and report on Sweet Blasphemy , a novel written by a man named Aziz Zahara. Ella is mesmerized by his tale of Shams's search for Rumi and she started emailing him. What a surprise they hooked through email and fall in love. The forty rules of love of Shams, the relationship between Shams and Rumi and their characters are true story and recorded in history. This forty rules of love emphasise about Sufism teaching and dervish's life. Many of the rules felt forced into the plot but fortunately, most of them are about loving God.
